Hello, My name is Gary and this is my blog “GuideMetoDebtFree.com.

I want to explain why I think this blog is important and in order to do so, I need to tell our story.

First of all, let me say that I had good credit! All my life I have insisted, and even prided myself on the ability to maintain good credit. Up until a few months ago my wife and I had credit scores was in the mid 700’s. I never had any problems getting credit, but that was also the problem.

You see we did all the right things, paid our bills on time, invested in business and real estate and racked up over 2 million in debt at the same time. Things were going along just fine for several years, and we thought we had it made. In fact we were doing well, so well that we justified a trip to the Carribbean every year and just tacked the balance on the credit cards. After all we worked hard, we earned it, right?

Well then came the real estate bubble, the stock market crash, and probably the worst economy in memory. The business just wasn’t generating the cash flow it used to due to high vacancies, and maintenance costs. So we racked up more credit card debt. We knew it was bad but what choice did we have. We could no longer refi, so our mortgages began going into default.

For someone who was proud of the fact, that I never had a late mortgage payment, I was getting very stressed out thinking that we could lose some properties to forclosure, or even have to file bankruptcy.

When the debt collectors started calling, I got really worried, but I also began searching for information that could help us get out of debt and protect our credit. The problem was I had no idea where to look. There was so much material out there, all of it claiming to rescue people from bad debt and collection agents, but I had no idea who to listen to or call for help.

I had heard form many people over the years that most of these programs were a scam, or did more to hurt your credit than to help it.

So I decided to see if there was a website out there where people could go for reviews of the different products and services available. Unfortunately my search came up mostly dry.

This got me thinking , what if I could design a website where people could talk about their first hand experiences using some of these debt relief services. Perhaps I could also share my own information about books I have read on the subject of getting out of debt and credit repair.

It seemed like a good idea, I could help others while they helped me learn how to deal with these problems. If it worked, I might just be able to earn some extra money in the process with google ads on the site. At least I was smart enough to realize I needed some extra money to help pay the bills.

Well that’s our story, sad but true. Today we’re still in a mess, but at least we have hope that things can change, and I know they will. I promise to keep you posted on our situation as time goes by.

In the meantime, we hope you find this site valuable. Please read the reviews and comments posted on the site. Perhaps you too will find a light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks for reading,

~Gary
